In an exciting development, Scunthorpe United is thrilled to share the news of their recent signing—Kyle Hurst, a talented and versatile winger, has joined the team on loan from Doncaster Rovers for the remainder of the 2025-26 Enterprise National League season.
Hurst, who honed his skills at the Birmingham City academy, took a significant step in his career when he signed his first professional contract with the Blues at the age of 18. He quickly made a name for himself, appearing frequently for both the U21 and U23 squads before making a pivotal move to Doncaster Rovers in the summer of 2022.
Upon joining Rovers during a period of change for the club, Hurst wasted no time establishing himself as a key player under then-manager Danny Schofield. In his first season in League Two, he played an impressive 45 matches and scored seven goals, demonstrating his ability to contribute both as an attacking midfielder and as a winger.
Now at 23 years old, Hurst has crossed the milestone of 100 appearances for Doncaster, including 21 games last season. His contributions were crucial in helping the team secure promotion to League One. During the first half of that season, he made significant contributions before transferring to the Scottish Championship team Queens Park for the latter part of the year, where he participated in 10 matches.
This current season, Hurst has been gaining valuable experience on loan with Gateshead FC, another club in the National League. He has made 29 appearances in all competitions and has emerged as a standout performer, contributing six goals to the struggling side. His remarkable performance is something he aims to build upon now that he is donning the claret and blue of Scunthorpe United.
Welcome aboard, Kyle! We can’t wait to see what you will achieve with us.
