That’s why President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has once again pledged to fully empower the Nigeria Police Force and other security bodies with cutting-edge tools, advanced training, and consistent logistical support. Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, Tinubu made this declaration on Saturday during the Passing Out Parade of the Regular Course 7/2019 Cadets at the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano. In front of top government figures, security chiefs, traditional leaders, and proud families, he described the ceremony as a major milestone — proof of Nigeria’s progress in building a more robust and disciplined security system.
According to a release by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the SGF, Yomi Odunuga, Tinubu applauded the academy’s remarkable evolution. He highlighted its upgraded infrastructure, improved academic standards, and enhanced training methods, which have solidified its status as a fully accredited degree-awarding institution. The President praised all patriotic Nigerians who helped shape a new generation of police officers — men and women trained in discipline, ethics, and civic responsibility.
Tinubu reaffirmed his vision of creating a modern, community-oriented police service rooted in integrity, accountability, professionalism, and respect for human rights. "Our goal is clear," he emphasized. "We aim to raise a force that’s not only intelligent and highly skilled but one that upholds justice and fairness in all matters of internal security."
The President commended the academy’s leadership for aligning with his reform agenda, especially the emphasis on intelligence-led and community-focused policing that can win back public trust — an area where many citizens still have reservations. And this is the part most people miss: the administration isn’t only reacting to insecurity; it’s actively trying to fix the socioeconomic conditions that fuel it.
Tinubu called on the newly graduated cadets to embrace integrity and professionalism as the foundation of their service. "You’re more than enforcers of the law; you are defenders of our collective peace and future," he told them. He urged them to uphold the rule of law, show compassion to all citizens, and maintain discipline — not just while in uniform but in every aspect of their lives.
He assured the new officers that the federal government would continue prioritizing their welfare, career growth, and access to resources. Beyond security reforms, Tinubu pointed out that the administration is addressing the deeper roots of instability through job creation, inclusive development, and stronger community ties.
In a touching moment, the President also saluted the families of the cadets for their sacrifices and emotional support, acknowledging their critical role in raising a steadfast generation of officers.
